Travelling back home from a wedding a few years ago I decided I had to be fancy. I've spent many an hour waiting around in airports and I always decided to get new fashion ideas. I usually feel my gaze eerily drawn to the Japanese Tween and their hyper cool look. I force myself to not let my eyes wander and look for ladies my age, to get more appropriate ideas. Assuming other people do this, too, I decided that high-heeled Coach mules, jeans, and a brown tweed blazer would make me look sophisticated, yet casual. Understated. Regal. Demure. Mysterious.
All worked well, until we landed in Las Vegas. We were over at that terminal that has the really high escalators, with the large statues of a scorpion, snake, etc. at the bottom. DH was walking faster than I could with my heels, so I kept having to catch up. Finally, a break on the escalators. But never underestimate the mysterious powers of an escalator.

| I realize this is not an escalator, but the pose is just perfectly perfect. I couldn't resist. |
Apparently the soles of my shoes did not like the feel of the floor at the bottom. They decided to get as far away as possible, which meant straight in the air.
Though I did not roll around on the floor the way the girl in the video did- I CAN SEE WHERE SHE WAS COMING FROM. I wanted to roll over and army crawl under the escalator. Unfortunately there were millions of people behind, in front, to the side. So I did the next best thing and hissed at DH: "Help me up, quick. Walk, dammit, just walk." I pretended that nothing had ever happened, hoping to project that upon the people staring at me. I've decided to pretend to myself that it worked.
I held on to DH really tight after this. Apparently the floors in Las Vegas are really shiny, slippery and clean. Later at home I realized that my leg was turning black and blue...Watch American Idol tonight and picture me in the angry girl at the bottom of the stairs.
In the meantime I leave you with this lovely video. Because, apparently things could have been worse. The music is phenomenal. :)
